政府在2007年公布《香港氣候行動藍圖2030+》，提出在2030年把本港碳強度由2005年的水平降低65%至70%的減碳目標，相等於碳排放總量減低26%至36%。香港政府於2021年公布的《香港氣候行動藍圖2050》，以「零碳排放‧綠色宜居‧持續發展」為願景，定下「淨零發電」、「節能綠建」、「綠色運輸」和「全民減廢」四大減碳策略，並提出中期目標，以助香港於 2050 年前達致碳中和。
In 2017, the Hong Kong government released the "Hong Kong Climate Action Plan 2030+" which set a target to reduce Hong Kong's carbon intensity by 65% to 70% from the 2005 level by 2030, equivalent to a 26% to 36% reduction in overall carbon emissions. In 2021, the Hong Kong government announced the "Hong Kong Climate Action Plan 2050" with the vision of "Zero Carbon Emissions, Green and Livable, Sustainable Development." The plan established four major carbon reduction strategies: "Net Zero Electricity Generation," "Energy-efficient and Green Buildings," "Green Transportation," and "Waste Reduction for All." It also set mid-term targets to help Hong Kong achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

廢紙為第三大成分，2022年於堆填區的棄置量為每日2,244公噸（佔都市固體廢物的20%），較2021年輕微增加0.4%。
In 2022, paper waste accounted for the third largest component of landfill disposal, with a daily disposal amount of 2,244 metric tons (20% of municipal solid waste). This represents a slight increase of 0.4% compared to the previous year, 2021*.

書本的生命週期中，由砍伐木材、紙張生產、印刷和裝訂、運輸包裝到閱後處理都會產生二氧化碳排放。根據一研究指出，生產一本書的碳排放產生約2.71kg。雖然單本書對二氧化碳排放未有顯著影響，但數以千萬計算時，其對全球暖化之影響卻是不容忽視。
During the lifecycle of a book, from logging for wood, paper production, printing and binding, transportation and packaging, to post-reading disposal, carbon dioxide emissions are generated. According to a study, the production of a single book produces approximately 2.71 kg of carbon emissions. Although the carbon emissions from a single book may not have a significant impact, when multiplied by millions, its contribution to global warming should not be ignored.

消費已經被進行，資源已經被使用，二氧化碳已經被產生，那就讓它使用週期結束，再變回紙張前，可以最大限度地發揮書籍的價值吧！
If a book is read and well-maintained, it can typically be read at least 20 times!
Once the consumption has taken place, resources have been utilized, and carbon dioxide emissions have been generated, it is indeed beneficial to maximize the value of the book before it is recycled. By reading and re-reading the book multiple times, we can make the most of its content and derive enjoyment, knowledge, and inspiration from it.
